Rita Cohen Senior Vice President/Legislative and Regulatory Policy MPA—The Association of Magazine Media
Rita Cohen has been Senior Vice President/Legislative and Regulatory Policy for MPA since 1999. She joined MPA's Washington office in 1995 as Director of Economic and Legislative Analysis. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, Ms. Cohen is responsible for MPA policy regarding state and local government actions, taxation for magazines, environmental matters and consumer protection including privacy and marketing practices.
Ms. Cohen has played a key role in the MPA's longstanding efforts to keep postal rates for magazines as low as possible. She has been a major economic witness for the MPA before the Postal Rate Commission, and leads industry efforts to find lasting solutions to stop escalating postal prices.
Having joined the USPS in 1975, Ms. Cohen received a succession of promotions, ultimately being named Principal Operations Research Analyst. In 1986, she joined ICF Kaiser Consulting, a consulting firm with an emphasis on environment, energy and government policy. She became a vice president in 1993.
Ms. Cohen was graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in statistics, magna cum laude, and an MA in business and applied economics. She resides with her husband and three children in Potomac, MD. |
