At the end of a year that saw postal concerns multiply and media coverage of the Postal Service’s financial woes reach a fevered pitch, publishers got much needed relief in two key areas – rates and service – at the year’s close.
Today, MPA, in conjunction with the Direct Marketing Association, the Association for Postal Commerce and the Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers sent an open letter to Postmaster General Pat Donahoe, urging the Postmaster General to once and for all withdraw its request for a $2.3 billion above inflation postage rate increase.
Today the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee approved S. 1789, bi-partisan postal reform legislation, by a vote of 9 to 1, thereby clearing the bill for Senate floor consideration.
