In order to make the processing of flat-shaped mail more efficient, the Postal Service is introducing a new processing system – the Flats Sequencing System. In March 2009, addressing standards for magazines and other flats will change to accommodate the new processing system. On July 23, MPA held a postal forum to describe the new address placement requirements and the potential impact on magazine marketing efforts including renewals, attached mail, oversized direct mail, etc. These powerpoints provide specifics on the upcoming changes in magazine label placement as well as how the new requirements will affect renewal and attached mail marketing efforts. The powerpoints also include some case studies and publishers’ testing experience that will be helpful as publishers explore opportunities to minimize adverse response from the upcoming addressing changes.
