The question is not, why should independent publishers join MPA--the question is, how can they afford not to? Since MPA dues are calculated on a company's magazine revenue (with a minimun of $375 per quarter), no company is charged more than they can afford to pay. And with smaller staffs and more limited resources, independent magazines have a lot to gain from tapping into the wealth of expertise and information that MPA membership provides.
