Affordable Mail Alliance Continues Fight to Oppose USPS Rate Hike

As expected, the United States Postal Service filed a response on Monday with the Postal Regulatory Commission opposing the Affordable Mail Alliance’s Motion to Dismiss, continuing to assert that their proposed rate hike in excess of the law’s CPI price cap is justified under the “extraordinary or exceptional circumstances” provision in the 2006 postal reform law.

In response, the Alliance issued the following statement on Tuesday in rebuttal to the Postal Service’s core argument, citing the firm opinion of the author of the “extraordinary or exceptional” provision – U.S. Senator Susan Collins – that the Postal Service’s pending rate hike proposal is NOT justified under the law.
