CHIEF EDITOR Members are editorial directors of publishing companies or divisions and chief editors of consumer and business magazines, magazine websites and digital-only magazines. Chief-editor titles include Editor, Editorial Director, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor, some of which are also used by subordinate editors. To qualify for membership, a chief editor must be responsible for a print magazine edited and published in the United States or a magazine website or digital-only magazine, the primary purpose of which is to inform or entertain. Editors of the following are not qualified for membership: company publications intended primarily for and distributed solely to employees and their associates or customers; print or digital newsletters; newspaper websites and websites modeled on newspapers; and marketing and promotional websites. Annual dues for Chief Editor Members are $695. Dues are billed annually in May; dues for members joining at other times of the year are prorated the following January. REGULAR Members are senior-level editors, art directors and photography editors of qualified publications; senior editorial staff of not-for-profit publications; editorial consultants and free-lance editors, graphic designers and photography editors regularly employed by qualified publications; and journalism educators. Qualified publications include print magazines edited and published in the United States and magazine websites or digital-only magazines, the primary purpose of which is to inform or entertain. Annual dues for Regular Members are $395.

ASME NEXT Members are junior-level editorial staff members with no more than seven years of editorial experience. ASME NEXT titles include Editorial Assistant, Assistant Editor, Associate Editor, Online Editor and Web Producer and corresponding titles in design and photography departments. ASME NEXT members are nonvoting members of ASME. ASME NEXT annual dues are $95 per year.

RETIRED Members are retired chief editors and senior-level editors, art directors and photography editors who wish to continue to participate in ASME programs, including the National Magazine Awards. Annual dues for Retired Members are $45.
