January 26, 2004

Carus Publishing is pleased to announce a licensing agreement with North Star Media Inc. North Star Media, in partnership with an educational publisher in China, will publish 40 bilingual textbooks for high school students using content from Caruss childrens magazines.

North Star Media has licensed more than 2,560 pages of content, published over the last 20 years, from six Carus publications, including APPLESEEDS, CALLIOPE, COBBLESTONE, FACES, ODYSSEY, and MUSE. In addition, North Star has licensed teachers guides that correlate to the content as well as corresponding photos or illustrations owned by Carus.

Selected material from the six magazines will be published as two series of books, with 20 books in each series.  The two series will be World Culture and History and Science and Discovery.  Each book will be 64 pages and printed with Simplified Chinese and English.  The textbooks will be distributed in Mainland China, with an expected initial printing of 15,000 copies. The books will be published prior to September 2004
