New York, NY (July 23, 2007)—One hundred and fifty-three announcements* of new or yet-to-be-published magazines were identified in the first half of 2007, according to research conducted by Magazine Publishers of America (MPA). This marks a seven percent increase in announcements for magazines about to launch or set for release later in the year, compared to the same period last year. Within the second quarter, 48 announcements of new or upcoming titles were tracked, representing a 14% increase over the second quarter of 2006.
Among the new titles announced or forthcoming in 2007 are: 30 titles serving affluent readers; 21 magazines related to sports and recreation; 10 magazines announced for kids and teens, eight magazines with a focus on home and shelter; eight magazines crafted for African-Americans; and another seven serving the Hispanic/Latino market.
Seventeen MPA member publishers have announced new titles in 2007s first half, indicating 23 new and forthcoming magazines. Notable announcements of current or future launches from member publishers included:

Information about launch announcements is posted in the New and Noted section on the MPA website. The section offers a comprehensive and detailed list of consumer magazine launch announcements. The list is updated monthly and features information about the publisher, announced launch dates, frequency and detailed editorial descriptions. The New and Noted Magazines section does not include magazines with less than a quarterly frequency.
MPA consistently tracks new launch announcements to benefit advertisers, publishers and consumers. Advertisers often seek the latest information about forthcoming magazines in order to place advertising in the coveted first issue. Publishers look for detailed editorial descriptions about new titles competing in their space. Consumers search the New and Noted database of launch announcements for magazines that cover their passions.
