New York, NY—The fifth "Magazines 24/7" Digital Conference, “Navigating the New Reality,” will be held March 3 at the New York Marriot Marquis, it was announced today by Nina Link, President and CEO, Magazine Publishers of America (MPA). Ms. Link also announced several keynote speakers including Avinash Kaushik, Google's web analytics evangelist; Domenic Venuto, SVP, Media and Entertainment, Razorfish; and Jeff Berman, EVP, MySpace, who will be interviewed onstage by Fortune's Jessi Hempel.
"Magazines 24/7," produced by MPA, is the premier magazine industry digital conference that each winter assembles a powerful lineup of thought leaders, digital pioneers, Internet and mobile executives, journalists and representatives from all sides of the magazine business. Chairing the 2009 conference is Lauren Wiener, SVP, Meredith Interactive.
More than 350 executives attended last year's sold-out conference at New York's New World Stages, which featured YouTube's Jordan Hoffner and Facebook's Owen Van Natta.

Panelists include Roger Neal, General Manager and SVP, Businessweek.com; John Loughlin, EVP, General Manager, Hearst Magazines; and David Liu, CEO, The Knot. Moderated by Cyndi Stivers, Managing Editor, EW.com.
Are Paid Sites the New Black and Can They Help Keep You Out of the Red? Revenue-hungry publishers have begun moving content behind paid walls. But exactly how much money can publishers expect to generate from this source? What are the advantages and disadvantages to the paid strategy in 2009? Panelists include MaryAnn Bekkedahl, EVP, Group Publisher, Rodale Inc.; and Hank Boye, Publisher, Harvard Business Review. Moderated by Jim Cooper, Executive Editor, Mediaweek.
Monetizing Your Brand's Authority Savvy publishers are devising new ways to cash in on their brands' authority by using digital platforms. Some are engaged in unique revenue-share opportunities based on their editorial recommendations. Others are capitalizing on their editorial expertise to create new digital products for consumers like video games. The Next Big Thing in Mobile for Magazines Magazine mobile experts discuss how they are building profitable businesses with assets they can monetize. They will reveal why mobile platforms work for some magazine brands, what opportunities exist for publishers and what advertisers are looking for. Panelists include Simeen Mohsen, Director, Business Operations, InStyle; and Edward Lang, SVP and General Manager, Mobile and International Online, Playboy Media Group. WWW: What Works Well Now in its fourth year, the "WWW: What Works Well" interstitial series at "Magazines 24/7" spotlights short case studies of especially innovative and/or inspiring digital initiatives form magazine publishers. This year's series includes Paul Levine, SVP, National Geographic Ventures, describing his brand's great adventure in video games; and Dan Hickey, VP, Digital Content, Meredith Corporation, on his company’s social networking initiatives.
The conference also features the third annual MPA Digital Awards, the leading industry awards program for magazine digital excellence.
