New York, NY (April 28, 2009)—A one-and-a-half-day Summit focused on innovation in the magazine industry was announced today by Nina Link, President and CEO, Magazine Publishers of America (MPA). The event, named The Magazine Innovation Summit, is slated for October 14 and 15 at the Grand Hyatt New York and other venues in New York City. The Summit will feature speakers, panelists and case studies addressing technological, business and creative change in the magazine industry.
“This Summit is designed to provide magazine executives with innovative strategies to build their brands, increase efficiencies and take advantage of the dramatic advances in technology that are impacting both their print and digital businesses,” said Ms. Link. “Publishers and editors will explore opportunities to develop stronger ties with their audiences and advertisers. The Magazine Innovation Summit will focus on understanding and harnessing the power of disruptive technologies and transformative business models to affect positive change in the magazine industry.”
Day One of the Summit will take place at the Grand Hyatt New York and feature topics and discussions geared for the entire industry. Day Two offers business-specific breakout session in several areas including consumer marketing, government affairs, editorial and advertising. The sessions are scheduled for several venues around New York City including Time Inc. and the Hearst building. Day Two also features sessions produced by the American Society of Magazine Editors spotlighting editorial innovation and addressing some of the most important issues facing editors as they navigate the complexities of a multi-platform world.
