CALL FOR ENTRIES: The American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) is pleased to announce its third annual "Best Cover Contest," celebrating excellence in magazine cover design and creativity.
A panel of renowned magazine editors, design directors, art directors and photo editors will name the top covers in the following categories:
+ COVER OF THE YEAR+ BEST CELEBRITY COVEREntries must portray an entertainment or sports celebrity (or celebrities) as the main subject+ BEST NEWS COVEREntries must represent news stories in the areas of business, entertainment, sports, politics and world affairs+ BEST FASHION COVEREntries must feature fashion as the central concept+ BEST CONCEPT COVEREntries must showcase a specially produced photograph or illustration that expresses an idea or concept+ BEST PERSONAL SERVICE COVEREntries must highlight service journalism in the areas of health, medicine, psychology, relationships, parenting, careers or personal finance
+ BEST LEISURE INTEREST COVEREntries must highlight hobbies or other recreational interests such as sports, travel, interior decorating, design, food, crafts, the arts, music, movies
Judges will also give special recognition to the year's BEST COVERLINE.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: JULY 31, 2008The winning magazine covers will be announced at the 2008 American Magazine Conference, which takes place in San Francisco, California, October 5-7. The conference, a premier industry event attended by executive-level magazine publishers and editors, as well as advertisers and the press, is hosted by Magazine Publishers of America (MPA) and ASME.
