Postal
July 8, 2008
MPA, whose members send almost 90 percent of their magazines to readers via the U.S. Postal Service, has a long standing interest in maintaining an affordable and reliable postal system providing universal service throughout America for the foreseeable future. MPA members also rely heavily on the Postal Service to support subscriptions and to attract new subscribers. MPA was instrumental in passage of the Postal Accountability and Enforcement Act of 2006 which ensures that periodicals postal rates do not increase faster than inflation. MPA also firmly supports at every opportunity the special recognition and favorable rate treatment accorded to magazines and other periodicals throughout the history of the postal system. To ensure postal rates can be maintained at affordable levels in the future, MPA is actively engaged in supporting Postal Service and publisher efforts to increase postal efficiency and encourage the growth of comailing and other cost-saving measures, while maintaining good service performance.
