DAILYCLOUT PARTNERS WITH WOMEN’S HEALTH MAGAZINE TO BRING POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT TOOL “BILLCAM” TO AUDIENCE OF 34 MILLION CONSUMERS

New York, NY – Civic technology start-up DailyClout today announced it has partnered with Women’s Health magazine to bring BillCam, an embeddable, shareable tracking tool that connects active legislation to news stories, to the magazine’s engaged audience of 34 million consumers across its print, digital and social platforms.

Under the partnership, DailyClout will work alongside womenshealthmag.com editors to identify BillCam placement opportunities within articles that touch on women-centric issues currently up for debate with the nation's lawmakers.

Co-founded by journalist Dr. Naomi Wolf and Lisa Thomas, former CEO of Clif Bar, Inc., DailyClout’s mission is to bring the practice of democracy to people's lives, every day.

“There is a tremendous appetite for civic engagement and participation in democracy, it’s just that most people don’t see an entry point,” Wolf explains.

When a reader encounters BillCam in a news article, she can comment on the official bill, share the bill with friends and tweet the bill's sponsor or her local rep. By transforming news articles into political engagement through easy access to live bills, everyone can weigh in on state or federal bills and exert real political clout. A non-partisan product, BillCam was partially funded by the Knight Foundation and built in collaboration with Dom & Tom, a fast-rising Inc. 500 Company.

"At D&T, we believe in the person behind the product as much as the product itself,” Dom & Tom CEO Dominic Tancredi said. “When Naomi came to us with BillCam, we realized we could be part of a project that would provide a direct line between individuals and the politicians who represent them. In the name of our company's Do Good. Be Good. spirit, we built BillCam knowing we’d be part of a product that would truly impact the future."

Of the partnership, Women’s Health Editor in Chief, Amy Keller Laird, says, “We are always looking for innovative ways to empower readers with knowledge and enable them to contribute to the broader cultural conversation. With an election year upon us, we have increased our coverage of political happenings as they relate to women’s health issues. BillCam is a seamless integration into our edit coverage that will allow our engaged audience of women to explore – and act upon – important issues both locally and nationally.”

The Women’s Health and BillCam partnership will kick off on August 10, when Dr. Naomi Wolf will join the magazine’s “Uninterrupted” podcast to discuss her inspiration behind the project and share her perspective on today’s political landscape.
