ELLE.COM PROMOTES COLUMNIST R. ERIC THOMAS TO SENIOR WRITER

Sally Holmes and Gena Kaufman Also Upped to Executive Editor and Director, Social Media and Special Projects, Respectively

NEW YORK, NY (August 15, 2017) – ELLE.com today announces the promotion of R. Eric Thomas to senior writer, effective immediately. For the past year, Thomas has served as a columnist for the site, sharing his humorous commentary of current events and politics for his "Eric Reads the News" column. It’s quickly become an online humor staple, and one of the most-read and most-shared features on ELLE.com.

As senior writer, Thomas will continue to publish his daily column, while producing additional commentary and criticism writing, and videos.

“Eric is one of the funniest, smartest and quickest writers I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with,” says ELLE.com editorial director Leah Chernikoff. “We’re thrilled to have him on board full-time.”

In addition to his work at ELLE.com, Thomas is a Barrymore Award-winning playwright and humorist. His plays include Time is on Our Side, Human Resources and Miriam 1234.

Also effective immediately, Sally Holmes has been promoted from deputy editor to executive editor, and Gena Kaufman has been promoted from social media director to director, social media and special projects.

Thomas, Holmes and Kaufman will continue to report directly to Chernikoff.
