Honorees Include Olympic Hopeful, Youth Poet Laureate, and a $20,000 Grand Prize Recipient

Today Glamour celebrated the winners of this year's College Women of the Year Competition at an awards ceremony luncheon, presented by L’Oréal Paris, at the NoMad Hotel Rooftop in New York City. As an exciting networking opportunity for these incredible young women, several trailblazers in the fields of science, health, technology, business, sports, and philanthropy—including Thinx Founder Miki Agrawal, Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani, Olympic gold medalist Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, No Ceilings director Terri McCullough, and Suits actress Meghan Markle—joined Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive in toasting the winners

For 59 years Glamour’s College Women of the Year competition has recognized students from across the country for campus leadership, scholastic achievement, community involvement, and unique, inspiring goals. Past winners range from Martha Stewart to former Dallas mayor Laura Miller. This year Glamour selected Suhani Jalota as the winner of the $20,000 grand prize for her work lifting Indian women out of poverty and tackling the stigma against menstruation with her feminine hygiene start-up the Myna Mahila Foundation. Each of the other winners received a cash prize, a trip to New York City, introductions to top professionals in a variety of fields, national recognition in the magazine, and hair styling and makeup for the awards ceremony luncheon compliments of L’Oréal Paris. Additionally, assistant vice president of L’Oréal Paris Omni-Media Jenny Darciuc Albrycht presented the College Woman of Worth award and cash prize to Bernadette Lim for her strong charitable spirit.

A’Dorian Murray-ThomasSwarthmore College, founder of She Wins!, a nonprofit for girls ages 12 to 15 affected by homicide, and Jerelyn Rodriguez, founder of The Knowledge House

Kaya ThomasDartmouth College, creator of We Read Too, an app that catalogs books by diverse authors, and Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code

Crystal Valentine, New York University, published author, three-time NYU Grand Slam Champion, and the ninth-ranked female slam poet in the world, and Meghan Markle, actress, Suits

Sara VolzMassachusetts Institute of Technology, coauthor of two papers on gene-editing tool CRISPR in Nature Biotechnology and Cell, and Dr. Rocio Rivera, director of scientific communications at L’Oréal Paris
