New York—March 30, 2017—Angela Burt-Murray has been named deputy editor of Glamour, it was announced today by Cindi Leive, editor-in-chief of Glamour. In this role Burt-Murray will work on larger features, editorial packages, and brand partnerships.


“I've been an Angela Burt-Murray fan for years, and am thrilled she's joining our team,” said Leive. “Her extensive brand-building skill and multiplatform know-how will be invaluable as we cultivate new editorial franchises for Glamour, particularly at this exciting moment for women.”


Prior to joining Glamour, Burt-Murray served as editor-in-chief of Essence—where she oversaw the magazine, relaunched, worked on the Essence Music Festival, and interviewed both President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Most recently she and her family lived in Atlanta, where she cofounded the Cocoa Media Group. She is the coauthor of the novel The Vow, which was turned into the Lifetime Network movie With this Ring, starring Gabrielle Union and Jill Scott. Earlier in her career Burt-Murray served as executive editor of both Teen People and Honey magazines. She is a graduate of Hampton University and serves on the board of Planned Parenthood Southeast.


Burt-Murray’s position is effective immediately.
