GLAMOUR REVEALS THE MAKEUP ROUTINES OF FOUR POWERHOUSE WOMEN IN NEW VIDEO SERIES THE MIRROR MONOLOGUES

U.S. Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad, Grammy-nominated singer Andra Day, model Jasmine Sanders, and model and activist Jillian Mercado star in the series

Women spend an average of 11 minutes applying makeup every day. What do they think about during this time? Glamour’s new video series, The Mirror Monologues, gives a firsthand look at the makeup routines of four trailblazing women. The series features U.S. Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad, Grammy-nominated singer Andra Day, model Jasmine Sanders, and model and activist Jillian Mercado opening up about what beauty and confidence mean to them.

New episodes of The Mirror Monologues will premiere each Tuesday, starting today, with Muhammad, who this month becomes the first U.S. athlete to wear a hijab in Olympic competition. She discusses finding confidence—in sports and in life—while applying her makeup. As she explains in the video, “When I feel really good about my appearance, it’s a lot easier for me to feel confident about myself and be able to attack the day.” About making the U.S. Olympic team, she says, “To anyone who believes I do not belong on the team—find someone who is better than me to take my spot. Only three people in the United States are afforded this position, and it had a lot to do with hard work and perseverance and essentially showing not just yourself but the country that you belong. It’s just been this really rewarding experience to be given this insurmountable task, and being able to achieve it has just been really rewarding for me.”
