NEW YORK, NY (June 20, 2017) – After a stunning debut on June 6, Hearst Magazines’ pilot issue of The Pioneer Woman Magazine has nearly sold out and is going back on press to print an additional 100,000 copies.

The new brand, in partnership with Scripps Networks Interactive and Food Network star Ree Drummond, is available at Walmart, where Drummond’s lines of cookware, dinnerware and home products are also sold, as well as in Drummond’s Pawhuska, Oklahoma, store, The Mercantile. Initial distribution of the pilot issue was 150,000 copies, with a $3.99 cover price.

“Ree is a remarkably talented storyteller, successful across so many platforms, from books to blogs to television,” said Hearst Magazines President of Marketing and Publishing Director Michael Clinton. “As her millions of fans know, her unique and inspiring take on life is a phenomenon, and the magazine is a new way for her fans to engage with her.”

The Pioneer Woman Magazine expands the immensely popular Pioneer Woman brand. Drummond launched The Pioneer Woman blog in 2006 and quickly became a lifestyle phenomenon, attracting millions of fans and inspiring women with her humor and candid stories about life on the ranch. Drummond’s show, The Pioneer Woman, premiered on Food Network in 2011, and she has authored a string of New York Times best-selling cookbooks.

The Pioneer Woman Magazine follows Hearst Magazines’ successful strategy of creating valuable partnerships with culturally significant personalities and brands. Starting with O, the Oprah Magazine in 2000, the company has launched Food Network Magazine, HGTV Magazine, and, in May, Airbnbmag in partnership with Airbnb.

The pilot issue includes “Pioneer Style” shopping guides (“A Girls’ Guide to Cowboy Boots”); a behind-the-scenes tour of her famous kitchen (“Camera Ready”); a feature on folk-art aprons by “The Apron Lady” Helen Gage (“A Stitch in Time”); cake decorating tips from her son’s 13th birthday party (“Happy Birthday, Todd!”) and a photo essay of a typical summer day at the family’s cattle ranch (“Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch”). Throughout the magazine, readers will also find Pioneer Woman signature recipes, including family dinners, summer party menus, and a favorite scone from The Mercantile.

Advertisers in the pilot issue include American Standard, Dr Pepper, Ikea, Land O’Lakes, and Sherwin-Williams, with L’Oreal as the exclusive beauty advertiser.

A second pilot issue of The Pioneer Woman Magazine will be on sale in September.
