MEDIA VETERANS BILL CARTER AND MICHAEL WOLFF AMONG THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER’S ADDITIONS TO AWARD-WINNING TEAM

Los Angeles, CA—July 16, 2015—The Hollywood Reporter, the entertainment industry’s flagship media brand, announced today that it has added five writers to its award-winning roster of reporters, including National Magazine Award-winning columnist, author and media observer Michael Wolff and former New York Times TV reporter and bestselling author Bill Carter, who have both been named contributing editors.

Carter, who has covered the TV industry for more than four decades, will provide wide-ranging coverage of, and in-depth insight into, the industry. Wolff, who has penned widely-read, agenda-setting columns for outlets including Vanity Fair and USA Today, will offer up-to-the-minute analysis of the rapidly evolving media landscape.

Wolff and Carter join current Hollywood Reporter contributing editors Tina Daunt, who writes on politics, Jonathan Handel who contributes on labor issues and Carolyn Giardina on technology.

In addition, The Hollywood Reporter announced that former MSN senior content producer Dave McCoy has been named senior editor for online, while, as senior writer, film industry reporter Scott Johnson will report in-depth investigative features on Hollywood, crime and culture. Joining as television writer, former TV Guide Online editor Kate Stanhope will contribute both to The Hollywood Reporter’s weekly print edition and to its TV blog, Live Feed.

Each of these exceptionally talented journalists brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and perspective from their years of reporting on media and entertainment,” says Matthew Belloni, Executive Editor of The Hollywood Reporter. “They will play an integral role as members of our editorial team as we continue to expand, and deepen, our coverage of all things Hollywood.”

The new staff announcements come on the heels of The Hollywood Reporter’s sweeping of Los Angeles Press Club’s 57th annual Southern California Journalism Awards, where the leading entertainment outlet took home 10 awards—more than any other news outlet—including honors for Best Website and Entertainment Journalist of the Year, which was awarded to TV editor Lacey Rose.

The Hollywood Reporter—which hit record online traffic in February with 19.78 million monthly unique visitors globally (comScore)—was also recently named winner of the 2015 ASME National Magazine Award for General Excellence in the category of Special Interest Magazines.

In 2014, The Hollywood Reporter staff was honored with an L.A.-Area Emmy Award for The Hollywood Reporter in Focus: The Wolf of Wall Street, which aired on PBS SoCaL.
