MOUNT EVEREST CLIMBER MELISSA ARNOT OPENS UP FOR FIRST TIME AFTER NEPAL EARTHQUAKE IN NEW GLAMOUR VIDEO
On April 21, Glamour launched “The Climb: One Woman Faces Everest,” an exclusive documentary video series chronicling world-record-holding climber Melissa Arnot’s attempt to summit Mount Everest for the sixth time, but the first without supplemental oxygen.
Just four days later, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, killing more than 8,000 people. Arnot and her team survived, having stopped for lunch on Lobuche peak (an area less damaged by the earthquake), but many of her fellow climbers elsewhere on the mountain were less fortunate. In that moment, she pledged through her Juniper Fund to support the families of the Nepali workers who had perished and help rebuild the Everest community she loves.
The second episode of “The Climb” follows Arnot in the aftermath of the earthquake. For the first time since the tragedy, she opens up about the sheer devastation in Nepal and the new priorities that she has set for herself.
The episode debuts today on Glamour.com and on the Glamour channel on The Scene, the premiere digital video storytelling network from Condé Nast Entertainment.
