(New York, N.Y. – August 3, 2016)—The New Yorker’s Web site, newyorker.com, posted a record month in July with 19.9 million unique visitors, up 36 per cent compared to the same month a year ago. Year to date, readership to newyorker.com is up 22 per cent.

On-site video views for the month grew 35 per cent compared to July 2015. Year to date, video views are up 112 per cent, driven by New Yorker series “Comma Queen,” “The Cartoon Lounge,” and “Shorts & Murmurs,” plus award-winning short films and original productions.

The New Yorker’s political reporting contributed to many of the month’s most popular stories, leading with Jane Mayer’s exclusive interview with Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter of Donald Trump’s bestselling “The Art of the Deal,” who spoke out for the first time in nearly three decades to express his fear of a Trump Presidency. Newyorker.com also featured extensive on-the-ground coverage from the Republican and Democratic conventions with dispatches from John Cassidy, Jelani Cobb, Amy Davidson, Jill Lepore, Ryan Lizza, Jane Mayer, Evan Osnos, and Benjamin Wallace-Wells.
