NEW YORK — May 2, 2017 — The Players’ Tribune (TPT) and Twitter announced an all-new series, #Verified, a show in which athletes will connect directly with fans, in real-time.

Each episode of #Verified will be live, exclusively on Twitter, and will feature athletes answering questions from fans, sharing their insights, reactions and timely takes on important topics from both on and off the field. Driven by Twitter and fan-submitted questions, the series will debut in the coming months and will feature regular interviews with some of the most popular players in sports, including Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman.

The Players’ Tribune and Twitter share similar sensibilities and goals in giving newsmakers a platform to connect and engage directly with an audience,” says Jaymee Messler, president of The Players’ Tribune. “#Verified is a fresh take on the dated format of the traditional press conference, and it will give fans a place to connect directly with some of their favorite athletes in an immediate and organic way.”

“We are thrilled to collaborate with The Players’ Tribune, an industry leader that, like Twitter, connects athletes directly to fans,” says Anthony Noto, Twitter COO. “#Verified will combine the power of Twitter with TPT’s athlete network to bring engaging and exclusive live video from top notch athletes to our platform.”
