CARLSBAD, Calif. (December 19, 2016) — TEN: The Enthusiast Network’s POWDER Productions earned the Best Cinematography award at the International Freeride Film Festival in France this past weekend for its film Monumental: Skiing Our National Parks, presented by REI Co-Op and filmed and edited by KGB Productions. According to the International Freeride Film Festival, Monumental was selected for the award “thanks to its historical footage and the breath-taking landscapes of the U.S. National Parks, which wake up in the viewers the urge for travel and adventure.”

“We’re thrilled that our film about skiing the U.S. National Parks was recognized by a European ski film festival,” says John Stifter, executive producer of Monumental and POWDER Productions. “The award speaks to the project’s reach, as well as the skill of KGB Productions in capturing the wild beauty of these protected places.”

A ski film unlike any other, the 42-minute adventure documentary celebrates the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service by paying homage to these monuments of nature and solitude, reminding skiers where we came from, and that we belong to something greater than ourselves. It follows contemporary explorers with skiers Andy Mahre, Lynsey Dyer, Griffin Post, Colter Hinchliffe, Kalen Thorien, Greg Hill, Max Hammer, and Connery Lundin at Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Glacier National Park, and Olympic National Park.

Just wrapping up a 20-stop nationwide tour, the film is now available for purchase for $9.99 on various digital platforms, including Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Vimeo On Demand, Xbox, and VUDU. Look for a multimedia digital feature at as well as a 143-page hardcover, coffee-table-style book available here. A portion of proceeds from the book and film sales will go to Protect Our Winters.
