Santa Fe, NM and New York, NY (July 17, 2017)—Sam Moulton has been named VP Director of Marketing at OUTSIDE—a promotion that comes two years after he moved from Executive Editor to Marketing Director. Since jumping to the marketing side, Moulton has been instrumental in overseeing 360 degree integrated programs across all platforms including print, digital, social and podcasts, adding significant value and reach to a wide range of advertisers. Moulton is based out of OUTSIDE’s corporate headquarters in Santa Fe.

“Sam has seamlessly navigated this new world where idea generation and smart edit/content integration are critical,” said Scott Parmelee, Executive Vice President/Chief Revenue Officer, OUTSIDE. “Despite the immense pressure of deadlines and having to come up with breakthrough creative ideas over and over again, he always delivers great results with a positive attitude. Cecelia Magnani has been appointed Vice President Digital Sales and Strategy, after a seven-year trajectory as first Online Sales Manager and later Digital Sales Director, which under her leadership became a digital sales powerhouse demonstrating 500% growth. In 2017, digital sales are tracking up 38%. Magnani is based out of OUTSIDE’s New York City office.

“Cecelia’s passion for this business, coupled with her ability to work with the content, marketing, operations, and sales teams, have resulted in advertising programs that are spot on for an industry hungry to smartly leverage their digital dollars,” Parmelee added. “We are fortunate for her leadership and congratulate both she and Sam on well-deserved promotions.”

Moulton’s first experience with OUTSIDE was in 1999 when he interned for the magazine at the Santa Fe headquarters. Seven years later, he returned as Editor of OUTSIDE’s Buyer’s Guide and held the position of Executive Editor for five years. He helped to oversee the redesign and relaunch of the website in 2011 and during his tenure, OUTSIDE was awarded a National Magazine Award for General Excellence in 2013. Prior to his editorial experience at OUTSIDE, Moulton was the Editor-at-Large for Canoe and Kayak Magazine and Senior Editor at Skiing Magazine.

Magnani has assembled and manages a world-class staff of digital ad ops superstars who continue to keep OUTSIDE’s digital sales engine humming. Magnani worked at a West Coast creative agency and Scuba Diving magazine before joining the New York office of Outside in 2010.
