LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 6, 2015 – TEN: The Enthusiast Network, the world’s premier network of enthusiast brands, is pleased to announce that 15 of the company’s brands were recognized for editorial achievement in media at the 64th Annual Western Publishing Association (WPA) MAGGIE Awards this past weekend. AUTOMOBILE, MOTOR TREND, OFFGRID, POWDER, RECOIL, SURFER, and TRANSWORLD MOTOCROSS each earned the night’s top honor: the MAGGIE, considered to be the most prestigious award in the publishing industry. BIKE, CANOE & KAYAK, EUROPEAN CAR, HOT ROD, SUP, SUPER STREET, SURFING, and TRANSWORLD SNOWBOARDING were honored as finalists.

“Our editorial teams consistently produce compelling, memorable, must-have content, so it’s a great honor and well-earned recognition for those 15 brands to be named finalists for this year’s WPA MAGGIE Awards,” says TEN’s CEO Scott Dickey. “Winning nine MAGGIE Awards is a great accomplishment. TRANSWORLD MOTOCROSS scooped up two MAGGIES, one for “Best Overall Automobile & Motorcycle Magazine” for the February issue, and the second for “Best Cover (Circ. Over 75,000)” for the August issue.

MOTOR TREND won two MAGGIES for “Best Video Channel” and “Best Use of Video in Editorial Long Form.” In March, the MOTOR TREND YouTube Channel surpassed 3 million subscribers, building on its position as YouTube’s top producer of original automotive programming.

SURFER earned “Best Special Theme Issue (Circ. over 75,000)” for its August issue (AKA The Big Issue). The popular special-edition annual oversized issue focuses on a theme each year; the 2014 issue “Oceans Under Siege” featured stories on climate change and the harsh realities of surfing’s future.

POWDER, which has been recognized with multiple MAGGIES in years past, earned the distinction of “Best Digital Edition or Tablet Article/Trade & Consumer” for its riveting multimedia feature story, “The Human Factor,” investigating decision-making in avalanche terrain.

AUTOMOBILE earned “Best Editorial Layout (Circ. over 75,000)” for “The Ghosts On Mulholland Drive,” which fondly reminisced about the glory days of a famous nine-mile section of road in Los Angeles known as Mulholland Drive.

RECOIL, launched in January 2012, earned “Best Outdoor Sports & Recreation Magazine” for the high-quality content and design of its July issue against established stalwarts in the category.

OFFGRID won “Best Overall Publication Design” for its stunning layout, illustrations, and photography. Launched in the summer of 2013, OFFGRID has helped the urban/city dweller prepare for natural disasters like Katrina and Polar Vortex in a simple and easy-to-understand package.
