Kelly Awards honor outstanding magazine media advertising in three categories

Winners to be announced at the American Magazine Media Conference on February 6, 2018

New York, NY (October 23, 2017) – MPA – The Association of Magazine Media is now accepting entries for the 2018 Kelly Awards, honoring the creative spirit of excellence and innovation in the art of advertising in magazine media. The Kelly Awards are given to agency creative teams, advertising clients and magazine media publishers whose campaigns demonstrate both creative excellence and effectiveness in meeting campaign objectives.

MPA re-established the esteemed awards last year to shine a light on creative magazine advertising. Third-party research shows that print ads yield greater increases in brand awareness, brand favorability and purchase intent than online or TV advertising.  Magazine media brands are long-standing, recognizable and trusted by both consumers and advertisers.

“More than ever before, marketers realize that context matters,” said Linda Thomas Brooks, president and chief executive officer, MPA – The Association of Magazine Media. “The Kelly Awards will celebrate print magazines’ unique ability to offer advertisers brand safe, trusted content environments using innovative methods and beautiful imagery. The awards showcase the creative teams that make the best use of this ad environment.”

The awards will be offered in three categories: Best Print Magazine Creative, Best Magazine Media Creative/Campaign and Best Custom Magazine Media Program. To qualify, at least one ad of the campaign must have appeared in a 2017 print issue of an MPA-member magazine. Agency creative teams, advertising clients and magazine media publishers are all encouraged to submit their best work on advertising creative, multi-platform campaigns and custom programs that effectively meet strategic objectives in a creative manner.

Last year’s winners include the New Yorker and Neo@Ogilvy for “On the Go: An Augmented Reality Experience;” the Oprah Media Group and Initiative for “Oprah’s Favorite Things;” and HGTV Magazine for “TD Rolling Renovation.”

A panel of judges composed of top agency creative directors and marketing executives will review entries in their areas of expertise and judge finalists on the goals, elements and impact of the advertisement or advertising campaign. Winners will be announced at the American Magazine Media Conference in New York City on February 6, 2018.  For more information on the Kelly Awards and how to enter, visit
