DEPARTURES Boasts Largest July/August Issue in Magazine's History

New York, NY (June 12, 2013) – Advertising revenue and paging in DEPARTURES' July/August issue climbed 43 percent and 53 percent, respectively, versus the same issue last year, it was announced today by Steven DeLuca, senior vice president and publisher of DEPARTURES. These gains make this issue the largest July/August issue in the magazine’s nearly 25-year history. DEPARTURES, published exclusively for Platinum Card® and Centurion® members of American Express, is up 22 percent in advertising revenue and 19 percent in paging year-to-date compared to January through July 2012, driven by growth in the core watch, jewelry, and luxury travel categories.

“Our strong year to date performance reinforces the fact that true luxury is still growing in the U.S. and that marketers trust our ability to connect them with the right customer base,” said DeLuca. “Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, we feel extremely optimistic that luxury consumers will continue to increase spending across multiple categories and those brands that stay consistent with messaging will benefit the most.”

In addition to increased paging and revenue, the July/August issue debuts new advertisers across various growth categories such as finance, home décor, wine and spirits, and electronics. New advertisers include Morgan Stanley, Knoll, Penfolds Wine, and Sony.

DEPARTURES is published exclusively by the American Express Publishing Corporation for Platinum Card® and Centurion® members from American Express. DEPARTURESʼ international network includes 18 editions in more than 50 countries, including Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
