Meredith Announces Executive Promotions and Appointments

NEW YORK, N.Y. (July 31, 2013) – Meredith Corporation (, the nation’s leading media and marketing company serving 100 million American women, today announced several promotions within the National Media Group.

·         Christine Guilfoyle has been promoted to VP/Group Publisher. As part of her expanded position, Guilfoyle will add responsibility for Meredith’s newest title, Allrecipes magazine, which will be launching this fall. She will continue to lead Every Day with Rachael Ray, and EatingWell magazines, and report to Tom Witschi, EVP/President, Meredith Women’s Lifestyle Group.


Guilfoyle re-joined Meredith in 2010 as Publisher of More magazine. In 2011 she became Publisher of Every Day with Rachael Ray magazine. Prior to joining Meredith, Guilfoyle was the Publisher for Women's Wear Daily. From 2005 to 2007, Guilfoyle was the launch publisher of Every Day with Rachael Ray which was recognized as the "Launch of the Year" by both Advertising Age and Adweek. Guilfoyle was previously advertising director for Meredith’s Better Homes and Gardens magazine, securing spots on Adweek's "Hot List,” and Advertising Age's “A-List.” She began her publishing career with positions at People, TV Guide and Omni magazines.  


·         Linda Fears has been named VP/Editor-in-Chief, Family Circle. The promotion follows her eight-year role as Editor-in-Chief of the brand. Fears will also continue as Editorial Director of Meredith’s Food Content Center of Excellence. She was a driving force in the development of the editorial vision for Allrecipes magazine and will oversee that brand. She will continue reporting to Jim Carr, EVP & President, Family Circle.

Fears has 28 years of expertise in the magazine industry, previously serving as Editor-in-Chief, New Business Development for G+J USA; Editor-in-Chief of YM magazine; and Deputy Editor of Parents magazine. She started her publishing career at Meredith, working for 11 years at Ladies’ Home Journal, eventually becoming Senior Editor and Lifestyle Director.  

·         Cheryl Brown has been named Editor-in-Chief, Allrecipes magazine. Most recently, Brown served as Editorial Director of, Meredith’s digital destination that combines great recipes with value and savings for consumers. Brown will report to Fears, with whom she worked closely to develop the Allrecipes special interest magazine as well as the editorial design and focus for the upcoming launch of the title.


Brown has a long history in the food-and-lifestyle category in both print and digital. Prior to joining Meredith, she served as Editorial Director of and at AOL. Previously she was Managing Editor at Wondertime, Disney Publishing Worldwide’s parenting/family title. Before her time at Disney, she was at Gourmet magazine for almost a decade.


·         Britta Cleveland has been promoted to SVP, Research Solutions. Cleveland joined Meredith in 2004, and most recently served as VP, Research Solutions. She will continue to report to Nancy Weber, EVP/Chief Marketing Officer.


Under Cleveland’s guidance, Meredith has developed breakthrough research on a number of fronts, including industry-leading insights into marketing to millennial moms; the Real Women Talking program that provides real time data on what is motivating and inspiring women in the marketplace; and defining standards on measuring digital and tablet media performance. She has been a driving force behind many of Meredith’s most important research-driven marketing programs, including the Meredith Sales Guarantee, which has quickly become an integral element of Meredith’s marketing and sales initiatives. Her work has been recognized both in the U.S. and abroad for its innovative approach and insightful information.


Prior to joining Meredith, Cleveland spent nearly a decade as Director, U.S. Advertising Research at The Reader’s Digest Association. Her background also includes extensive experience with advertising and marketing agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi and Foote, Cone and Belding.
