NEW YORK, N.Y. (October 8, 2013) – Meredith Corporation (NYSE:MDP), the nation’s leading media and marketing company serving 100 million American women, announced today that Maxwell Ryan, founder of the popular home design website Apartment Therapy, will join Better Homes and Gardens as a contributing editor.

For the new “Apartment Therapist” column, Ryan will offer decorating, space-saving and lifestyle tips to help Better Homes and Gardens readers solve everyday challenges and create a more beautiful, organized and healthy home. Ryan’s first piece, “Slivers of Space,” on finding attractive storage spaces in overlooked places, appears in the October issue, on newsstands now.

In addition to the "Apartment Therapist" column, which will appear several times a year, Ryan will collaborate on special makeover and entertaining stories, as well as digital projects and initiatives.

“As a much-loved brand that has always inspired women to elevate their home and family life, Better Homes and Gardens is an ideal match for Apartment Therapy’s mission and message,” says Ryan. “It will be an exciting project to translate our immense online content into regular print features.”

Ryan launched Apartment Therapy in 2004, and the site now reaches more than 15 million unique readers per month. In 2009, Forbes named the site to its list of Must-Read Style and Design Blogs, calling it “One of the most influential interior design sites on the Web.” Ryan’s varied background also includes working at a prestigious New York design firm, earning a master’s degree in literature, embarking on a seven-year teaching career, running his own design service, and publishing three Apartment Therapy-branded books.

“For more than nine years, Maxwell has helped people master the elements of good home design, with a particular focus on organization and personal expression,” says Gayle Butler, Editor-in-Chief, Better Homes and Gardens.  “We are thrilled that he will be bringing our readers his distinctive point-of-view and great ideas for living large in small areas.”
