Hayley Romer Named Vice President
and Publisher of The Atlantic

Washington, D.C. and New York, N.Y. (October 28, 2013)—M. Scott Havens, President of The Atlantic, announced today that Hayley Romer has been promoted to Vice President and Publisher of The Atlantic. Romer, who joined The Atlantic in May 2012 as Associate Publisher, will oversee the national sales and marketing teams, leading advertising efforts for The Atlantic brand across its print and digital platforms.

During Romer's tenure, The Atlantic has experienced strong, sustained growth. In the past year, the sales team has broken nearly 50 new accounts, delivering industry-leading multi-platform programs to its partners. Largely driven by continued growth in digital and mobile advertising, Q4 2013 will mark the brand's best-ever advertising revenue performance in any quarter. And for the year, The Atlantic will set yet another advertising revenue record, surpassing 2012's then-benchmark performance.

Jay Lauf, Senior Vice President of Atlantic Media, will continue to focus on Quartz in his role as the global business brand's publisher, while serving as a senior advisor to The Atlantic and on Atlantic Media's corporate strategic partnerships.

"Hayley is a tireless advocate for the Atlantic brand—bringing in new business, breaking categories and clients for the first time, and inspiring her team to do the same," said Havens. "Her commitment to The Atlantic infuses everything she does, and I'm thrilled she will be leading our award-winning sales and marketing teams as we double down on innovation, expansion, and growth."

"I am honored to help lead The Atlantic, an organization that simultaneously embodies a rich, storied history and an entrepreneurial approach to the future of publishing across a variety of platforms," said Romer. "We have the best team in the business and are well positioned for continued success."

Prior to joining The Atlantic, Romer spent five years at the Condé Nast Media Group, most recently as Executive Director of Corporate Sales. In that role, she managed an integrated team on accounts ranging from finance to luxury to technology across titles such as The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and Wired. Before joining Condé Nast in 2007, Romer managed the luxury account list at Forbes Media. She began her career in publishing at American Heritage magazine.
