Time Inc. Vice Chairman Norm Pearlstine to Retire
Norm Pearlstine’s storied career at Time Inc. is officially coming to a close on July 17 when the current Vice Chairman will retire. Mr. Pearlstine rejoined the company back in 2013 when it was spun off from Time Warner as Chief Content Officer, a new title but somewhat within the same capacity as his old title of Editor in Chief which he held for a decade.

Time Inc. has announced that David Gensler has been named Senior Vice President, Food Beverage Spirits Category, effective immediately. Reporting to Karen Kovacs, Group President, Brand and Category Sales, Gensler oversees advertising sales for the food and beverage category as the company continues to drive revenue goals and meet clients’ needs more effectively.
The Economist Is Using Quora to Shape Its Comments Section
The publisher began experimenting with Quora last August when deputy editor Tom Standage used the platform to answer questions about artificial intelligence and The Economist’s digital strategy. Questions such as how the publisher is managing the transition from print to digital received north of 160,000 views. In total, Standage’s questions have had 1.5 million views.

“The MPA’s IMAG community prides itself on sharing and learning from one another,” said Andy Clurman, President and CEO of Active Interest Media and Chair of the IMAG Financial Benchmarking Study. “As a board, we thought a benchmarking study would be the ideal way to provide member companies with key metrics to better understand how their performance compares to similar companies.” The survey was conducted in the last quarter of 2016 by Mazars USA, a global accounting firm. Only open to members of the IMAG community, participants received two sets of detailed results: one for all respondents and one broken down by revenue tier.
