Santa Fe, NM (February 20, 2019) — OUTSIDE, America’s preeminent active lifestyle brand, was nominated in two categories by the American Society of Magazine Editors for the 2019 awards recognizing excellence in print and digital media. The media brand was nominated for Best Website in the service and lifestyle category and Personal Service for its “Rewilding the American Child” September 2018 issue package.

The nominations come after a banner year for OUTSIDE: January 2019 ranked as the second highest traffic month of all time, with over 10 million total page views. From 2017 to 2018 the site saw a 17% increase in unique visitors, with total visits up 16% and time spent on site up by over 7%.

“Rewilding the American Child” serves as part of OUTSIDE’s ongoing commitment to growing the active lifestyle marketplace, taking a unique approach to the challenge of parenting in the modern age. The initiative began with the brand’s first-ever women’s issue in May of 2017, a landmark issue that was entirely written and photographed by women. The following year, OUTSIDE published another forward-thinking issue focusing on inclusivity in the outdoors, the changing face of the outdoors and the growing movement to make the outdoors a truly welcoming playground. The upcoming July/August issue will continue OUTSIDE’s mission to reach new audiences by examining the new ways city-dwellers are embracing the active lifestyle.

Two hundred seventy-nine national and regional publications entered the Ellie Awards this year, submitting 699 print, 560 digital and 141 multiplatform entries. The 2019 winners will be announced during an evening presentation on Thursday, March 14, at Brooklyn Steel in Williamsburg, New York.
