KALMBACH MEDIA TO HOST ANNUAL BEAD&BUTTON SHOW AND EXPO

World’s Largest Consumer Bead, Metal, and Glass Jewelry Makers Event Returns in June with 600+ Classes; Silent Auction Benefits Breast Cancer Research

WAUKESHA, WI (April 9, 2019) – Kalmbach Media (Kalmbach), the content creator of such well-known and respected media brands as Bead&Button, Discover, Astronomy, and Model Railroader, has a brand-new lineup of classes for the Bead&Button Show, which returns to the Wisconsin Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI, June 2-9.

The Bead&Button Show, now in its 19th year, is Kalmbach’s premier event for “modern makers” passionate about creating jewelry from crystals, gemstones, beads, metal, and other materials. The show, which attracts over 11,000 attendees from across the globe, is truly an annual pilgrimage for beaders, metalworkers, wirework artists, and makers who want to hone their skills with the best in the field.

Bead&Button Show attendees have an unprecedented opportunity to engage with expert instructors leading more than 600 classes; shop for premium materials and supplies at one of the world’s largest and most extensive Expos of its kind; and interact with like-minded creators from across the nation and around the world.

Jewelry-making classes at the annual show start on June 2. The Bead&Jewelry Expo, an exclusive shopping experience offered during the show, will feature more than 200 booths and is open to the public June 7 through June 9. The Expo boasts an enormous selection of beads, tools, findings, and handcrafted jewelry from around the world in all price ranges.

Among the class program elements this year are:

       ·       Rock Candy Party! An experience designed especially for young people ages 10-18 who want to learn the basics of beadwork             from an expert artisan;

·       Designs for nature: Learn how to bead a hedgehog, butterfly or bouquet of flowers; make colorful insects out of polymer clay; or shape leaves and pods from wire;

·       Make the ordinary extraordinary: Learn how to incorporate LED lights into a porcelain pendant, or add color to metal with pencils, or build a bowl with beads;

·       Become a Master: Explore advanced-level jewelry skills with renowned experts in glass lampworking, kumihomo, and soldering among others.

·       New “make-and-take” opportunities: Manufacturers will demonstrate new products and instructors will share the latest trending techniques in beading and jewelry making. Participants will walk away with their own beautiful creations to make or to give.

Jewelry-making classes are available through the start of the show, but participants are encouraged to register soon. “Response has been terrific, and we are adding new classes, but many sell out quickly,” said Show Director Sara Dumford. “We are continually amazed at the fresh new ideas our teachers bring to the show.”

Classes will take place Sunday, June 2, through Sunday June 9, at the Wisconsin Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI, and at nearby locations. For the best selection, register in advance at www.BeadandButtonShow.com. Registration is available on-site beginning Saturday, June 1 but availability may be limited. Class registration fees includes a free goody bag and free entry to the Bead&Jewelry Expo, including a shoppers’ preview on Thursday, June 6.

Class and Expo tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Prices and other details are available at www.BeadandButtonShow.com.

A Silent Auction of unique jewelry, beads, books, kits, and supplies will open for bidding 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, in the Expo. Proceeds raised will support breast cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Since its inception, the Bead&Button Show has raised nearly $300,000 for community causes and programs.
